NURI — Korean Astrology

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 August 2026

NURI reads Korean Four Pillars (사주) charts. To do that we need your birth details. This page explains exactly what we keep, why, and how to get rid of it.

We do not run ads. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools. We do not sell or share your data with data brokers or advertisers. We do count visits ourselves, anonymously — no cookies, no tracking ID, and your IP address is never stored (see section 2). The app talks to our own server and to Google (for sign-in, purchases and notifications) — nothing else.

1. Who we are

NURI is made by an independent developer. For any question about this policy or your data, write to tkbstudiollc@gmail.com. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.

2. What we collect

If you never sign in

Your chart is calculated on the device and stored only in the app's local storage. Clearing the app's data erases it, and we never had a copy. The one thing that does leave your device is an anonymous visit count, described next.

Counting visits (everyone)

We count how many people open NURI, so we know whether anyone is using it. We built this ourselves — no Google Analytics, no third party, nothing sold or shared.

What we recordWhy
An anonymous visitor number, made by scrambling your IP address beyond recovery (a one-way hash, mixed with a secret and with the current month) To count people rather than page loads, and to see how many come back. The scrambling changes every month, so the number cannot be followed past it
When the visit started and when you were last active in it To know roughly how long people stay
Which page you arrived on, the website that linked you (the site name only, never the full address), your app language, and whether you used the app or the web To know where visitors come from and which language to write in
Which of the app’s five screens you opened, and roughly how many seconds you spent on each To see which parts of the app people actually use, so we know what to improve. Only the screen names — never what you read, asked, or entered

Your IP address itself is never stored. We do not set cookies, we do not store any identifier on your device, and this is never linked to your account, your chart or your questions — even when you are signed in. These records are deleted after 180 days.

If you sign in with Google

WhatWhy
Email address and Google account ID To identify your account so your charts, coins and questions follow you to a new phone
Birth date, birth time, birthplace (city, region, country code, longitude, timezone), sex This is the reading. The chart cannot be calculated without it. Sex is used only to decide the direction of the 10-year cycles
A name or label you type for each saved chart So you can tell your saved people apart
Questions you ask and the answers you receive To show the conversation and to keep a record of what a coin was spent on
If you start a two-chart reading: the other person's birth details and the label and relationship you chose for them Stored with that conversation so follow-up questions read the same two charts. Deleted when you delete the reading
Coin balance and purchase records (store transaction ID, product, price, currency) To give you what you paid for and to handle refund disputes
Your device's time zone and chosen language So "today" means today where you are, and so we write to you in your language
Notification token (only if you turn notifications on) To send your daily reading. Turning notifications off in your phone settings stops it
Timestamps of when you last opened the app To know which accounts are dormant

We do not collect: your location (we never ask for location permission — the time zone comes from your device's own clock setting), your contacts, your photos, your microphone, your health data, or your advertising ID.

Birth details of other people

The app lets you save charts for other people — a partner, a friend, a family member — and to check compatibility. If you enter someone else's birth details, you are responsible for having their agreement. We store those details in the same way as your own, under your account, and they are deleted when you delete that saved chart or your account.

3. Where your data is stored

On servers in the United States (Supabase, AWS us-east-1). If you use NURI from outside the United States, your data is transferred there.

4. Who else sees it

WhoWhat they getWhy
SupabaseEverything listed aboveThey host our database and sign-in. They process it for us and do not use it for their own purposes
Anthropic (Claude)Your chart in coded form, and your questionOnly when you use Ask. Your name and email are never sent
GoogleSign-in, purchase and notification dataGoogle Sign-In, Google Play billing, and notification delivery
Google Analytics for FirebaseThat a sign-up or a purchase happened, and your device's advertising IDTo see whether our ads bring people who actually use the app. We never send your name, email, birth details or questions

The events we send to Google Analytics are only sign_up and purchase. Nothing you read, ask or save is sent. On Android you can turn the advertising ID off in Settings → Privacy → Ads, and on iOS in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; the app keeps working.

Our own visit counting stays on our own server and is not shared with anyone.

5. How long we keep it

6. Deleting your data

You can delete a saved chart at any time inside the app. To delete your whole account and everything attached to it, write to tkbstudiollc@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with. We complete deletions within 30 days.

Full instructions — what is deleted, what we must keep and for how long — are on the Delete your account page. You do not need the app installed to use it.

When you delete your account we remove all of it. We keep a one-way hash of the email you signed in with, and nothing else, for 72 hours, so that the same account cannot be deleted and made again over and over to collect the free starting coins. The hash cannot be turned back into your email, it is not used for anything else, and after 72 hours that record is deleted too. You can sign up again after that.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to the address above and we will act on it. You do not need to give a reason.

8. Children

NURI is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to us and we will delete the account.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. On our database, each row is locked to its owner — one account cannot read another's charts or questions, and that is enforced by the database itself, not only by the app.

10. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects what we do with your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
